Gurry Wurry Returns with Full Album ‘Happy For Now’

We had the pleasure of discovering Gurry Wurry earlier this year, thanks to ‘Hairline’s playful and hypnotising character. Writing about the single, we proudly declared it “a cloud floating in the sky – taking the listeners on a satisfying and addictive three-minute trip”. We stand by our words: the project is able to craft incredibly charismatic goodness, with a mellow yet intense vocal delivery that’s fresh and unheard.

‘Happy For Now’ is Gurry Wurry’s latest album, expanding on the project’s quirky identity and deep, relaxing tones. The record is quite eclectic, introducing a stunning piano pushing the overall sound towards a brighter and uplifting direction. Perfectly pairing with its philosophical lyricism, ‘Happy For Now’ is a light record, but also meaningful and intentional. Navigating indie and power pop influences (with a certain theatrical flair, we must say), the album wraps the listeners into an unforgettable sonic journey.

At times it’s cartoon-like (‘Fly-Tip’ being the best example of that), other times it’s soulful and reflective (Sin Doesn’t Smoke Now). ‘I’ll Miss You’ is pure ballad energy, cathartic and introspective. Speaking about the inspiration behind it all, Gurry Wurry explains: “An ode to caring less. Or trying to. It’s about being content with the fragility of everything. Including that contentment itself.”
