NYC-based rocker and creative Eleanor Kelly has recently unveiled her latest EP, ‘Another Red Scar’. A long time in the making, the record collects past singles such as ‘Blind’ and ‘Nili’ next to brand new offerings like ‘One Last Goodbye’, ‘In My Soul’ and ‘Bright Nights’. The sonic formula is rather constant – new wave and darkwave elements with a fierce and distinct rock flavouring.
While ‘One Last Goodbye’ flourishes on a beatless production, synth arpeggios and shoegaze-like guitars, ‘Bright Nights’ is punchier and more punk-oriented, featuring lyrics in Hebrew and English. Elsewhere in the record, Kelly is also comfortable with French.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Another Red Scar’, she explains: “It features five songs I wrote over the past year, capturing experiences of pain, loss, and confusion related to ongoing events in my home country. The songs also reflect a current struggle, shared by many, with feelings of displacement and not belonging elsewhere. If you or someone you know has been grappling with these same emotions, I hope these songs offer solace and a renewed sense of empowerment and community.”
