A contemporary, leftfield record, ‘light & darkness’ navigates the narrow borders between art-pop, electronica and ambient, all delivered with a decisively hyper pop flair. The result is an expansive, vibrant album jumping from poignant songwriting-based efforts such as ‘love=hate’, to more experimental numbers such as the opener ‘light’. Instead, ‘earn it’ is the best of both worlds, right in the middle.
Further on, the keen listener will start to get familiar with lost to be found’s synthetic-like vocals. Luscious and drenched in autotune, the Swiss talent manages to pair conventional songwriting formulas with futuristic production value; see for instance ‘i never told you’, a beatless, intimate piece built on a whirlwind of textures and soundscapes – even acoustic guitars.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the album, lost to be found explains: “The whole album is about showing the struggles while growing up. There is light and a dark side. But the light side is actually the sad side and dark is the happy one. This shows as well how confusing perception and growing up can be.”
