My Giddy Aunt Gear Up for Upcoming Album with ‘Dorian’

We still remember writing about My Giddy Aunt not long ago, praising their debut EP ‘All Things Come In Time’ as “navigating everything from tame indie vibes to poppy and melodious pieces”. The Aussie band has a lot of things in their favour: from the obvious eclecticism characterising their musical prowess to their modern take on relationships and the world around us.

Celebrating a luscious Queer identity, the Melbourne-based trio now returns with ‘Dorian’, a single that seems to be influenced by their early works, while placing the goalpost further ahead. Furious and energetic, the track showcases My Giddy Aunt’s flavoursome rock’n’roll influences, here lined into indie-pop tones and a keen eye for catchy songwriting.

‘Dorian’ anticipates the group’s upcoming album ‘8 Billion Characters in the Worst Movie Ever’. Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, My Giddy Aunt explains: “Much like your most recent situationship, you won’t be able to get ‘Dorian’ out of your head… Propelled by a feverish anxiety, the song tussles with the emotional attachment and sometimes sudden detachment associated with modern hookup culture.”
