Meet The Brouhaha, London’s Next Hottest Band

It’s not easy being a rock band. Especially during our times. Members change all the time, there’s a lot of competition, and your sound often gets regarded as ‘dated’. Well, London punk outfit The Brouhaha is braving all of that successfully, having so far released an interesting few singles and a homonymous album. The full-length record, which was also their debut, was released just before the pandemic, meaning the South London talents couldn’t do much with it. With things now resuming to normal, we thought we’d dive into the band’s aesthetic and their style, shining a light on a group that has something solid to say.

They describe themselves as a punk band, and we partly agree. But, perhaps, their attitude is their biggest punk element. Yes, because The Brouhaha doesn’t recognize genre barriers. Instead, they break them, adapting their sound to a number of eclectic influences, exploring various rock idioms to deliver something completely personal.

For instance, take their record: the opening track ‘Get out the Way’ is certainly gritty and rebellious, but it also contains a strong groovy element, making the song more aking to an indie anthem. ‘That Kinda Guy’ pushes on the funk element even further, showcasing the whole extent of the band’s talent. ‘Rum Bold’ blinks to velate reggae influences, while exposing the British outfit’s more melodic side.

The Brouhaha might have had a rough start, it’s true: but now they have the chance to bring all their class and artistic prowess into the limelight, and we are certain they’ll do so.

For now, you can stream their music on Spotify:
