FOSS Share Cathartic Gem ‘Tell the Northern Lights’

The influences behind ‘Tell the Northern Lights’ are probably quite obvious – Bon Iver, James Blake, and all that good mid-2010s electronica-meets-folk extravaganza. That said, the record also carries an authentic contemporary flair, a sign that while the song might pay homage to the past, it looks at the future with confidence and charisma.

Guided by composer and singer Romain Collin and producer Jeremy Loucas, ‘Tell the Northern Lights’ achieves its final form among a triumph of leftfield electronica, experimental tones and a certain orchestral elegance. Collin’s otherworldly, cathartic vocals are a perfect match for such a vibrant tune. A myriad of textures and soundscapes further elevate an already intense offering.

The project takes the FOSS moniker, standing as a collaborative endeavour with something clear to say. They speak, and we listen – ‘Tell the Northern Lights’ is an absolute jewel. The single is part of the upcoming album ‘Shapeless’, described to us as “a confession, a journal about lost love and solitude”.
