Described by the band as a “four-minute journey that gets to the heart of the matter; love demands passion,” ‘Marjorie’ has an instant classic feel to it. Somehow laced with nostalgia yet fresh and modern simultaneously, it’s a foot-tapping and highly infectious tune I’ve fallen deeply in love with.
Featuring powerful guitar work, an ever-steady rhythm section, and some truly impressive vocal performances, ‘Marjorie’ seems to pass the listener by expeditiously – and I’ve always felt that’s an indication of a first-rate track.
Reminiscent of acts like R.E.M., The Jayhawks, and Wilco, I’m also getting hints of the Florida-based outfit Sister Hazel in The Dart Brothers’ sound. But, make no mistake about it, there’s authenticity and originality in the band’s work.
