The keen reader might remember New York-based songstress Amanda Brecker. The descendant of an illustrious musical family (which includes jazz giant Michael Brecker), Amanda is set on pursuing her own path to artistic glory, something that she’s become pretty good at. Writing about her a few months back, we proudly described her as having “exquisite taste for modern pop and rock stylings, together with an immensely relatable songwriting prowess”.
We stand by our words: Amanda Brecker is not only a world-class vocalist and musician but also an enlightened songwriter and lyricist, blending meaningful material with soulful delivery and jazz-flavoured instrumentals. ‘Saturday Vibes’ is the biggest evidence of that. A carefree, positive anthem, the song is the perfect match for Brecker’s vibrant and evocative vocals. Longtime collaborator and producer Daniel Jakubovic joins Amanda on the record.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, she explains: “The whole idea is to have a good time. I want us to take a day off, sleep in late, give ourselves a little self-love, turn off for a while, disconnect from our phones, and just enjoy the rest of what summer brings.”
