‘Stereo’ is the gorgeous debut offering from Münster-based composer and producer Justus Wilcken, who performs under the moniker of WILCKEN. A short and sweet four-track EP recorded in the artist’s home studio, the intricate and polished record is a true work of sonic magic.
‘Seasons’ is the EP’s first tune, and sets the tone beautifully. Guided by an acoustic guitar, WILCKEN’s angelic vocals float over an ethereal and otherworldly instrumental. It’s simply mesmerizing! ‘Stereo’ then follows and offers a rather different auditory experience, but still maintains its predecessor’s immersive and hypnotic style.
‘Past Midnight’ is just a magnificent piece of music from start to finish, and features the drum work of fellow Münster-based composer and drummer Philipp Buck. Elegant, graceful, and utterly sublime.
We end off with ‘Inhale’, a chilling piano-based song guaranteed to send shivers down your spine, and it’s now clear that we’re dealing with an exceptionally gifted musician. A truly remarkable debut offering, I can’t wait to hear what WILCKEN has next up his sleeve!
