Dylan Mundy Releases Haunting and Poignant Ballad ‘It Happened Again?’

In my opinion, it’s extremely rare for a song to grab your attention instantly. I generally need time to absorb and appreciate the nuances before a tune truly connects with me. This, however, was the complete opposite when I first heard ‘It Happened Again?’.

Courtesy of Lancashire-based singer/songwriter Dylan Mundy, the effortlessly emotional and atmospheric ballad bypassed my usual reservations and immediately struck a chord with me. An intimate and introspective offering, there’s a beautiful and delicate simplicity at the song’s core – allowing Dylan’s stirring and raw vocals to take centre stage.

Portraying a relationship destined for failure, one “dressed in black,” ‘It Happened Again?’ expertly captures the inevitable sorrow with a poignant and haunting tone. Melancholic to the bone, it certainly fits in with Mundy’s general poeticness of an ever-greying world. “If we’re going down with the ship, we might as well have a boogie while we sink,” is the artist’s mantra.

Described as “more placebo to the times than an antidote,” Dylan Mundy’s work, specifically ‘It Happened Again?’, delivers a deeply resonant sketch of contemporary disillusionment. There’s a genius at work here, folks, and he’s promised us a lot more to come this year!
