We weren’t ready for this. Frankly, ‘Dystopian World’ is one of the most comprehensive and mind-blowing pieces of musical work we have ever had the pleasure of writing about. Featuring seven movements, the record is an extensive classical symphony with a decisively futuristic and dystopian outlook (as one might have got from the title…).
Composed by Greek genius Peter Xifaras, ‘Dystopian World’ embarks on a modern interpretation of George Orwell’s classic book ‘1984’, drawing a parallel with our controversial times. From surveillance to freedom of speech, passing through propaganda and human rights: everything plays a part in making Peter’s work a high-octane, evocative musical soundtrack to a rather worrying narrative.
‘Dystopian World’ is best enjoyed with its visual counterpart, available on YouTube in 4K. It’s linked below, and well worth a watch. Behind the music, we find the Czech National Symphony. Orchestra featuring guest violinist Xander Nichting, recorded in Prague.
