NEEB Share Evocative and Calming Single ‘Take To The Sky’

The peeps at Shy Bairn Records have been extremely busy this year, something that can be noticed in the quality of their releases. ‘Take To The Sky’ stands out between their latest catalogue, a slice of elegant and dreamy acid jazz and soft pop with a decisively soulful character. The talented humans behind the record are NEEB, Hartlepool-based outfit with a long history of musical explorations.

‘Take To The Sky’ sees them kickstarting a newly-found creative phase, enhanced by the help of guest seminal drummer Martin Ditcham (Talk Talk, among others) and evocative vocalist Jasmine Weatherill (now an integral and permanent part of the project). Her luscious tone is everything the song needed; layering pure, unfiltered melodies over a spacious, ethereal and eclectic arrangement, NEEB crafts a heavenly gem, light and airy yet meaningful and intense.

In the process of recording an album, the British band showcases a lot of potential, and judging but what we are hearing now, we are in for some delightful surprises. What we appreciate the most in ‘Take To The Sky’ is its chill-out intro, with field recordings and texture laying a hypnotising foundation for NEEB’s sonic magic.
