We are fairly familiar with The Neuromaniacs already; how could we forget such a kaleidoscopic and intense project? Writing about previous single ‘Revelations’, we proudly declared it “an eclectic gem steeped in electronica and post-rock stylings”. We stand by our words: the project’s output is rather obscure and cryptic, drenched in dark new wave energy and a plethora of textures and noisy layers.
‘Remnants’ is The Neuromaniacs’ latest effort, a long, vibrant crescendo which feels anthemic and enlightening. While the sonic references are still deeply based on leftfield electronica and post-rock energy, there’s something more uplifting and glorious to it, almost angelic. Imagine a battery of angels celebrating their master while ascending to the highest tier of paradise…. ‘Remnants’ is a worthy soundtrack for such a peculiar scene.
Our view is confirmed by the project’s head honcho Johnny Brewer: “It moves away from the darker aspects that was the debut release, ‘Revelations’, bringing the listener on a calmer and more psychedelic journey”.
