It’s been a while since someone sent us a good dark pop track. I’MMORTAL is the holistic creative behind such a jewel; operating between NYC and London, she’s proudly carving a space for herself in the forward-thinking artistic landscape.
Having benefitted from classical training and an interest in production and visual arts, I’MMORTAL approaches her record on a rather wide level, even resembling a multimedia piece. ‘KILLED U IN A DREAM’ showcases all of that, being pretty eclectic in its arrangement, yet bold and fierce in its sonic choices. Pair that with the project’s dazzling and hazy imagery, and you’ve got a compelling offering on your hands.
All of the above makes even more sense when considering that I’MMORTAL has frequent episodes of Synesthesia, “a neurological condition that allows her to perceive vibrant colours, textures, and even taste flavours when she listens to music”.
