Senses Reeling Return With EP ‘All Said and Done’

A collaboration between inspired songwriter Nick Fuller and veteran producer Paul Midcalf, Senses Reeling have been a permanent fixture of the last decade, releasing a number of singles and EPs that explore a variety of genres and vibe, all showcasing the true artistic prowess of their authors. Their latest record made its way to us earlier this summer, once again pushing the boundaries of what we felt they could offer. Yes, that’s what you’ll be greeted with when listening to ‘All Said and Done’: the four-track EP contains tales of personal experiences and reflective reactions to our modern times, wrapped up in electronic pop instrumentals.

Opening with ‘Take Two’, the track instantly establishes the record’s common theme: synthesisers and guitars, creating a peculiar, quirky sonic universe where Fuller’s evocative and precise vocals can thrive in. Here the focus is on taking second chances, and never giving up before it is time to. ‘So What’ is perhaps the most political song on the EP, configuring itself as a hymn to whistleblowers, finding a perfect home in its rocky, cerebral imprint. ‘Everyday’ takes on a mellower, poppier identity, empowering the listener in looking back at their life with pride. ‘At Least’ closes ‘All Said and Done’ in orchestral fashion, with an initial string sample leaving then space for a more glitchy, percussion-based production. The track reminds us that arts should be exercised for personal expression, not personal gains.

Overall, another great record from the British pair, who have been confirming Senses Reeling as a fresh and creative endeavour.
