Greg Hoy & The Boys Return with ‘Holy Mother of God’

Whether or not you find rock’n’roll entertaining, you’ll be enjoying ‘Holy Mother of God’. A nostalgic, retro-flavoured anthem, the single finds its quirky identity in 70s gritty and fierce guitar-powered matter, leaving behind any modern ornaments in favour of a densely organic imprint, incredibly relatable and raw. The result is an exuberant, bubbly gem that wraps the listener in primal energy and veiled euphoria.

Such an impression fits well with the lyrical theme; quite unique, it explores a fictional situation where humanity has been wiped out of the planet… Mother Earth is sad, yet relieved. A music video is attached to the record, directed by Carissa Johnson; playful and rather vibrant, it’s a good visual counterpart to an already stunning record.

Behind it all, we find Greg Hoy & The Boys; Hailing from California, Hoy boasts long militancy in various rock and grunge outfits, with ‘Holy Mother of God’ being his latest effort. Speaking about the video, he explains: “The video is centered around a nun, played by Ashley Wooley, who wanders around the beaches and streets of the Bay Area. The nun serves as the personification of Mother Earth, who is mourning the loss of her inhabitants”.
