When Rolling Stone is calling you brilliant and The New York Times is labelling you as phenomenal, there’s a good choice you’re doing something right. With this in mind, please welcome New York-based multi-talented sensation Grace McLean. She’s not a newcomer around these parts, as we fell deeply in love with and featured her two most recent singles ‘My Lovely Enemy’ and ‘Albertine’. Now she returns with a full-length album, and we are honoured to share it with you today.
Titled ‘My Lovely Enemy’ the nine-track offering pursues both visceral and intellectual exploration, diving deep into themes of love, loss, and self-discovery. Through the lens of off-centre pop tunes, Grace takes listeners on an eclectic and charismatic journey filled with playful percussions and cinematic soundscapes.
“These songs are a raucous wake for a love well lived,” she says. “And a celebration of the barrier pain breaks down that we might rebuild better, and differently”.
As for McLean’s vocal performance, well that’s something you’re just going to have to experience for yourself. All I’ll say is that her sound is unlike anyone I’ve come across in a long time, and it’s no wonder her stock is rising so quickly in the industry. A masterful record, there will certainly be more moments of musical magic to look forward to from this exceptional talent.
