You’re right, we don’t feature much reggae here at Mesmerized. We do, however, strongly believe in talent and ideas. So, when an album like ‘Dreaducation’ comes across our proverbial desks, we pay close attention. Courtesy of Virginia-based independent Mighty Joshua, an artist who has shared stages with the likes of Ziggy Marley and Steel Pulse, ‘Dreaducation’ is a fourteen-track offering that carries a powerful message of empowerment, unity, and social consciousness.
Joined by legendary reggae musicians like Ras Mel, Junior Marvin, and Plunky Branch, Mighty Joshua brings his unique fusion of traditional reggae with roots and world music to the fore. Album opener ‘Beware’ sets the tone beautifully for what’s to come with a classic blend of infectious rhythms and insightful lyrics, before ‘Love Is The Answer’ sends out a powerful message of peace and love.
Other personal favourites from the record include ‘Iron Sharpen Iron’, ‘Ital Way’, and ‘kNOw’. If I’m being honest though, the entire album is an absolute delight. There’s nothing like a little bit of reggae to put a smile on your face and brighten your day. Positive vibes, uplifting energy, and a reminder that music has the power to heal.
