It wasn’t long ago that Brisbane-based five-piece The Dream Spiral came crashing into my world with their eclectic fusion of indie-rock, electronica, and industrial sounds. I had just heard their track ‘Redemption’, and instantly labelled it as “a tune that establishes the quintet as an electrifying new act with a dynamic and exhilarating sound”. Waiting patiently to hear from them again, I was over the moon last Friday when they returned with a new song in the form of ‘Trigger To My Head’.
Serving as the second single from the band’s forthcoming album ‘Unholy’, ‘Trigger To My Head’ follows in a similar sonic vein to ‘Redemption’. Inspired by the early work of English giants Depeche Mode, it’s a gritty and intense offering that plunges listeners into an audible whirlwind of pulsating beats and haunting melodies. Raw and moody, the tune is a bold and decisive declaration of The Dream Spiral’s artistic vision
“‘Trigger To My Head’ is about the feeling of hopelessness that we can sometimes feel in the modern world,” states the band. Proving themselves once again as exemplary storytellers, The Dream Spiral show no fear in exploring the darker side of life’s complexities. Just stellar stuff!
