[Photo Credit: Tasha Sparby] – Luscious and elegant, ‘Lovesick’ reminds us of a more soulful Ariana Grande; powered by a minimal, playful and groovy production, the track flourishes on Carly Shea’s anthemic and evocative vocals, able to span into a thousand harmonies and always perfectly locked into immersive melodies. Honestly, the record is a joy to listen to; blissful and angelic, but in a fierce pop way.
‘Lovesick’ is the kind of R&B matter one wouldn’t expect; fresh, peculiar and positive. A musical hat-trick from Shea, constantly showcasing her insane talent. Hailing from New York, the American songstress seems to have found a working formula, one that’s bound to take her to wider audiences.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Shea explains: “I wrote it recently after watching the 1998 film Meet Joe Black for the first time. There was something about the spark in the coffee shop scene that made me want to musically capture that coy and unspoken song with layered harmonies and soulful tones”.
