MothBreath Unveil Dreamy Self-Titled Album

There are a lot of nuances to be discovered in ‘mothbreath’. A self-titled debut album, the record celebrates Somerset duo’s MothBreath’s unique artistic flair, unveiling a substantial body of work showcasing all the impressive qualities they stand for. From hazy, spacious vocals, to ethereal guitar tones and abstract textures, the British pair blends post-punk, trip-hop and shoegaze with absolute ease, building a musical universe that’s peculiar and hypnotising.

The mood constantly shifts between blissfulness, nostalgia and melancholia. Take for instance ‘Millions of You’, a piece that’s angular and dark in its sonic outlook, heavy in its lyricism. ‘Drift Away’ is in total contrast with that, moving with soothing energy and an elegant, evocative character. Kirsty Dougall and John Libert are the talented humans behind such musical goodness.

Their musical alchemy is very obvious with Kirsty’s majestic, malleable vocals perfectly complementing John’s dreamy sound design and hazy guitar patches. ‘mothbreath’ is an album worth your time, even just for the dreamy imagery it will evoke – just give it a try.
