Unstuck Release Their First Track ‘Occupied’

Zoë McDonald

Irish pop-rock trio Unstuck introduce themselves with their debut release ‘Occupied’, and set the tone for their upcoming five-track EP. With influences such as XTC, Beach Boys, and Built to Spill, the band aims to bring something new and unique to the Irish music scene, and in their own words “promise to provide punchy radio-sized tracks that don’t compromise our own alternative tendencies”.

From the first listen and while watching the ‘Occupied’ animated music video, Unstuck give the impression that they are clear on who they are, what their brand is, and what they want to bring to the table. Inspired by rock and pop from the 60’s, 70’s and 90’s, the band deliver a sound that is filled with thought-out harmonies and instrumentation combined with a punky flare. They showcase a youthful rebellious ambiance with carefully constructed lyrics and catchy choruses, giving the listeners exactly what they want from fuzz-filled distorted pop.

The two-minute track comes in strong from the first second. The dynamics don’t change much throughout the song but manage to keep the listener on an adrenaline-driven hype all the way to the end. With the song being quite short and maintaining the same energy throughout, the trio don’t reveal much in regard to what they can offer, but they give us just enough to let us know that we’re interested to hear more!
