Hailing from London, RuBe is a talent in the making! We are already familiar with the young songstress, having featured ‘Set Me Free’ earlier this year, a record we described as “the most incredible fusion of dreamy acoustic sad-pop with hard-hitting and ferocious drum and bass”. While that record was strongly dance-oriented and vibrant, its follow-up is a rather different beast.
A poignant and evocative ballad, ‘STAY’ showcases a different side of RuBe’s artistry, a side that’s drenched in orchestral energy and emotional textures. Built over a soothing piano, intimate electronic stylings and spacious, cathartic vocals, the single helps the listeners connect with the British singer on a deeper level, especially when it comes to its lyricism.
As RuBe explains: “‘STAY’ is the final instalment of ‘Daughter’s Trilogy’ a trilogy about living with a mother with alcoholism and mental health issues”.
