It’s been a rather successful journey for The Almas. Hailing from Wisconsin, the American alt-rock outfit has been hitting all the right notes, releasing impactful, evocative records that are equally drenched in fiery distortion and powerful riffs as they are in emotional vocals and relatable lyricism. It’s a formula that’s just so rewarding and catchy.
Take for instance ‘Crowns’, one of their latest efforts. Built on a punching, driving rhythm and a chaotic yet charming arrangement, the track also reserves itself the right to indulge in spacious piano samples and a quirky emo flair. Crystal Teigland’s luscious vocals complete the sonic picture with incredible pathos, taking them close to other notable female-fronted rock acts, the likes of Evanescence and Lacuna Coil.
Crowning a stellar 2023, The Almas have been awarded ‘Rock Band of the Year’ at the JOSIE Music Awards. ‘The Almas II’ is their latest EP, collecting all the wonderful singles released by the group. The writing is on the wall: they are the next big thing.
If you are in the UK, look out for The Almas’ first promotional tour later this year.
