We receive records in French from time to time, and it’s always a pleasure to dive into them. Aside from the instant elegance they grant to a piece of music, there’s a multicultural aspect that makes music discovery much more fun and rewarding. Nosonic are the latest Parisian duo to grace our pages; championing a contemporary electro-pop flair, the pair has recently unveiled ‘Encore et Encore’, a single taken from their wider album ‘La Nuit et Le Jour’, out now.
Drenched in nostalgia and poignancy, ‘Encore et Encore’ develops slowly over a blissful and evocative synthetic production. Among a sea of arpeggiated synths and brilliant tones, Nosonic layer their collective vocals, charming and highly hypnotising. The alchemy between female and male voices works very well, giving the record a peculiar character.
Produced by Angelo Presta in Cork, Ireland, ‘Encore et Encore’ signals a sizeable change of pace for the French project, now looking at international waters with pride and energy. Judging by what we hear, they are on the right path.
