Returning with their third single of 2024, ‘Bluest of Blue’ is the latest intense track from Oregon-based garage rock duo Exceptional Failures. Described as a “dark folk and heavy blues song”, we begin with a little guitar fingerpicking and chilled-out drums before descending into a boisterous and almost psychedelic offering. Never allowing the listener to settle or get comfortable is all part of the plan, as Exceptional Failures take pride in the imperfection of their art. From sweet melodies to harsh and powerful instrumentals, it’s all in a day’s work for this supremely talented twosome.
Inspired by the closely observed turmoil of life on the streets and its undeniable reflection of our shared human pain, ‘Bluest of Blue’ is a stark reminder of the unmerciful realities of existence for so many.
Putting their money where the mouth is, all proceeds from the tune will be donated to Cultivate Initiatives, an NPO that provides support and services to the less fortunate and marginalised.
