Strawflower’s ‘Tiki Bar’ is a Ray of Musical Sunshine

‘Tiki Bar’ is the sort of tune that can literally change your day. It has the ability to turn a frown into a smile, and I can’t think of a higher compliment than to call it a ray of musical sunshine. Courtesy of Los Angeles-based surf rock and psychedelic pop act Strawflower, the unbelievably infectious track will form part of the band’s forthcoming debut album ‘Greetings from the Stardust Motel’.

Recorded in Michael Rault’s home studio near Joshua Tree (along with the rest of the record), Strawflower worked under some rather hectic conditions to produce ‘Tiki Bar’. “It was 110 degrees…Imagine us sweating bullets with no air conditioning and you’ll get a picture of the vibe in the studio,” says the band.

Inspired by acts like Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Brain Jonestown Massacre, The Grateful Dead, and Sonic Youth, Strawflower is beginning to receive the attention they so richly deserve. They’re racking up some decent play numbers on Spotify, and I get the feeling that their forthcoming album is going to be something truly special. Here’s to many more from a super-gifted band!
