Hearts With Company Showcase Their Talent with ‘Days Long Gone’

As debut efforts go, ‘Days Long Gone’ is a pretty compelling offering. Penned by London-based outfit Hearts With Company, the record greatly showcases the fuzzy, electrifying sound championed so well by the group. Vibrant and evocative, the track manages to blend indie rock prowess with meaningful storytelling, delving into a critique of contemporary fame and the many hidden dangers buried along its glorious path. More on this later.

Frontman Danny Hayward is the talented songwriter behind it, clearly an acute observer of the reality around him. As he explains, the song had its conception during a “crazy New Year’s Eve party, when I began composing and sharing ideas with fellow guitarist and school friend Feroz Ahmad”. Sonically, ‘Days Long Gone’ develops intense and fierce guitar-powered stylings while retaining an alluring and accessible melodious flair.

Delving deeper into his songwriting, Hayward describes the nuanced storytelling behind it: “A young woman manipulated by fame, desperately seeking an escape and way to find herself – a familiar tale which nods to the rise and fall of many of our cultural icons whose lives were cut tragically short.” A fitting and timely theme, given Amy Winehouse’s biopic hitting theatres in May. That makes ‘Days Long Gone’ a relevant record, perhaps even more now than it was last year.
