American visionary duo Friend of a Friend has caused quite a stir in the indie scenes in the past few months. Their secret can probably be described as unwavering eclecticism, a particular predisposition for blending a diversity of tones and timbres which in turn results in malleable and hypnotising pieces of music.
‘nothingforme’ is the perfect example of that; taken from the pair’s upcoming album, the track initially builds on acoustic stylings and folk-flavoured intensity, only to then develop into a glorious stream of emotional textures and cinematic energy, with a healthy dose of electronica in it. Listen peeps: Friend of a Friend’s artistry needs to be experienced, not read, so do go and listen to them. You won’t be disappointed.
‘nothingforme’ enlists the help of Jordan Lawlor (M83) on production duties – there’s no f***ing around here. Pure magic, and a big, big promise for the future. Friend of a Friend are known by day as Claire Molek and Jason Savsan.
