This time around, she unveils a slightly more nuanced and angular single, ‘Running on Empty’, a perhaps darker offering which is as meaningful as it is catchy and relatable. Focusing on the hardship around what we call ‘burnout’, Kinga Angelys seeks to inspire the listeners to take care of themselves, prioritizing rest and sustainability.
Sonically, ‘Running on Empty’ builds its modern character on a stream of emotional electronic pop, a simple production that’s a perfect match for the song’s lyrical message. Angelys’ vocals are free to dance on the instrumental showcasing all of their charisma and confidence, often enduring a stream of harmonies and memorable hooks.
Born out of a powerful collaboration with producer Eder O’Shanahan, ‘Running on Empty’ certainly reaches its target – we’ll make sure to take time for ourselves!
