We have already featured Atari Pilot a couple of times. Their energy is unmistakable: raw yet nuanced rock stylings with a certain retro flair, next to friendly and majestic lyricism, the perfect blend between guitar-powered prowess and songwriting catchiness. The Swindon-based group now unveils their biggest record in a decade, a charismatic album, ‘It’s The Journey You Can’t Live Without’.
At the core of it, there’s quite an inspiring and poignant narrative. It wasn’t long ago that Onze – Atari Pilot’s lead singer – was recovering from cancer. The willingness to come back, to overcome the hardship of his illness and to make art is what motivated the British musician to give the band a brand new chapter.
‘It’s The Journey You Can’t Live Without’ is the result of such a process. Featuring eleven nuggets of eclecticism and fierce lyricism, the record is certainly interesting and welcoming, a worthy discovery for any keen music fans. As Onze explains: “I was lying in a hospital bed in Oxford hooked up to a chemotherapy drip and I just knew that if I survived I knew there was unfinished business with Atari Pilot. I really wanted to learn how to make the most of a second chance at life and getting back to music was part of it”.
