The keen reader might recall reading about Blind Man’s Daughter on this very same publication, a few months ago. Describing why we liked ‘Sundressed’ so much – the project’s previous album – we proudly declared: “There’s something quite evocative and addicting in the record’s near-perfect vocals, complex guitar riffing and modern sound”. We stand by our words: Ashley Wolfe, the talented singer and musician behind the project, really possesses incredible charisma and an irresistible tone.
‘Close Enough to Whisper’ is Blind Man’s Daughter’s latest effort, and it’s not at all what you would expect from her… leaving trashy guitars and metal stylings behind, Wolfe embarks on a brand new journey towards modern genres, incorporating trap and electronic formulas with a decisively experimental flair.
Ashley’s vocals are now drenched in distortion, always deep and dark, intense and evocative, yet gentler and more ethereal, matching their sonic counterpart with class and quirkiness. As she explains: “This is the first single for my sophomore record. I am branching out into new styles”.
