Any of our London readers are in luck, as soul-jazz musician Elizabeth Shepherd is set to visit the city on April 16th, performing at Pizza Express’ The Pheasantry in Chelsea. A rare chance to hear the Canadian’s songstress evocative and cathartic vocals first-hand, absorbing all the magic of her eclectic and playful approach to music.
JUNO nominated and having shared the stage with a plethora of flashing names – from Christian McBride to Victor Wooten – Shepherd drives a very contemporary approach to jazz and fusion stylings, layering dynamic melodies over odd rhythms and elegant, organic arrangements. ‘Three Things’ is Elizabeth’s latest album, a stunning record with a refreshingly quirky outlook.
Jumping from jazz to neo-soul, to everything in between, Shepherd offers a very compelling glimpse into her vast artistic universe, a place that comes alive especially during live performances – one more reason to catch the Canadian creative in London, this coming April.
