‘Brother’ is a playful, quirky and honest track, a slice of refreshing storytelling drenched in positivity and acceptance. In fact, it stems from a real-life event, as its author Alex Comaish eloquently explains: “It’s about the time that I left my passport in my uni halls in Durham, and only realised the at 11 pm the night before my flight. My brother told me to jump in the car and we drove over 400 miles roundtrip so I could make the flight in time”.
I have fact-checked the distance and it’s more than 400 miles – that must have been quite a trip! Comaish wraps such an interesting story into a luscious musical livery. Drenched in indie-pop vibes, Alex develops his sound starting from clean and acoustic guitars, minimal drums and an overall soft fuzziness, making for a record that’s relatable and friendly, the perfect introduction to the project’s artistry.
Hailing from the Bristol area, the British talent showcases his dynamic, evocative vocals, quite raw at times but always on the money, especially in the anthemic hook section, where they get layered into a thousand harmonies. I hope your brother’s happy, Alex.
