If there’s something that stands out in ‘Gonna Be Alright’ is its playful and groovy character, delivered through a tasteful blend of pop, soul and RnB with a slice of electronic stylings. Curiously, the EP‘s lyricism is often slightly darker and more nuanced, a sign that Austin Willacy is able to build hopeful musical matter even through the most troublesome themes.
To be fair, there’s a healthy dose of fierceness and empowerment in it too, making ‘Gonna Be Alright’ a record for a large audience – it is relatable and we are confident will inspire many out there. Built over five timeless gems, the EP moves with gusto through upbeat, solar gems and slower, more emotional jewels. The constant is Willacy’s stunning vocals, incredibly elegant and controlled. A true soul singer.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the release, the American talent explains: “As a songwriter, I often think about contrasts. Tension and release, low and high, short versus long, fast versus slow”.
