A slow-burn, cathartic record, one would expect ‘Land of Never Mind’ to eventually explode into a noisy, anthemic outro. Instead, it remains on the same dreamy, hypnotising vibe, moving with elegance and confidence into the listener’s heart, bringing clarity and acceptance to any keen observer.
The latest effort by The Beautiful Fear, ‘Land of Never Mind’ sees English troubadour Matthew Bannister indulge in poignant songwriting and metaphorical lyricism, something that’s then amplified by his evocative, gentle and deep vocals, almost lulling us into a state of enlightened catharsis. Sonically, it builds on an eclectic and poignant rock-pop arrangement, flourishing over textures and percussions, well complementing Bannister’s darker tone.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, The Beautiful Fear explains: “It speaks generally of our times. It chronicles our collective numbing decline into a state of accepting madness as normal. It is the last song on the forthcoming album ‘Where Influencers Die”.
