BLACKSTATE Shares Visionary Audiovisual Piece ‘The Arsonist’

Dark, gloomy and grim: qualities that apply to ‘The Arsonist’ almost universally, both on a sonic and visual level. Drenched in gritty, coarse and bass-rich electronica, the track stands proud as an interpreter of the leftfield movement, making use of analogue arpeggiators and icy, tight drum machines. Soon, a flow of distorted and spacious vocals enters the scene, widening the scope of the record. From an underground and obscure gem, it instantly transforms into a fiercer anthem, including brighter textures and long harmonic material.

It all works perfectly, giving evidence of BLACKSTATE’s enlightened artistry. Based in North Macedonia, the talented producer and sonic alchemist is busy pursuing his own path, sculpting authentic and unique genre stylings that perfectly unify tradition and the contemporary. Also known as Filip Tasevski-Fitz by day, the young creative also placed attention on the release’s visual side, crafting a music video that empowers and mirrors the track’s breaking force.

Directed by Aleksandra Kostadinovska, the visuals are set in Hotel Drim, an iconic hotel building around Lake Ohrid, Macedonia. The otherworldly nature of its architecture is the perfect match for ‘The Arsonist’s robotic and impersonal character.
