AGGRASOPPAR Returns with Soothing Jewel ‘TEKIN UPPÁ LÍV’

We wrote about visionary project AGGRASOPPAR not long ago, spending celebratory words after hearing them for the first time: “Incorporating field recordings of natural landscapes and sparse, icy synthesiser stabs, the track completely stole our hearts”. Now, the Faroe Island-based group returns with ‘TEKIN UPPÁ LÍV’ (SIGN OF LIFE), a record that feels less experimental than its predecessor, while packed with the same amount of dreaminess and peculiar aesthetic.

Nature references are still here, as are AGGRASOPPAR’s signature lo-fi stylings, extremely polished and alternative. Ethereal female and male vocals dance with elegance and charisma over such sonic richness, really creating a listening experience that’s soothing, comforting, almost cathartic.

Lyrically, the record explores nostalgic memories of childhood games, while tracing a line to adulthood and the difficulties that come with it. As AGGRASOPPAR explain: “The older and bigger you get, you’d think you’d get worse at hiding, but as adults we hide by not participating in conversations, hiding our faces in our hair, and making ourselves invisible in crowds.”
