It’s hard not to get mesmerized by ‘Where Minds Collide’. The piece is a slice of intense, dark sound design packed with cinematic textures and majestic, anthemic vocals. Quite the masterpiece – although we wouldn’t expect anything less from XPQ-21. The moniker of German electronic trailblazer and acclaimed performer Jeyênne, the project finds its identity in an adrenaline-filled blend of leftfield electronica, synth-pop and synthwave, packed with meaningful and hypnotising lyricism.
In the case of ‘Where Minds Collide’, the lyrical content greatly resonates with our modern times. A witty critique and analysis of AI’s sharp rise in popularity, the song outlines a future where the human race is in danger by such a powerful tool. Perhaps a disturbing and anxiety-inducing topic for some, yet that’s a conversation that should be taking place exactly now.
Joining XPQ-21 we find multi-talented vocalist and creative Laura Friedland, gifting her evocative vocals to an already compelling record. What more could you wish for? The single also contains a long list of remixes and reworks, making it palatable to a wider audience.
