Klein & Jamison Pay Tribute to Late Friend in ‘Sailing Symphony’

We feel extremely rebellious today. So much so, that we are willing to let go of the noisy chokehold of popular music, finding instead refuge in mellow and inspiring classical territories. We came across Jim Klein and Ian Jamison – talented composers from Colorado and Arizona, respectively – long-time collaborators and already known to our publication (link below). ‘Sailing Symphony’ is their latest effort, a nuanced and malleable piece in four acts, celebrating and honouring the memory of Waddy Garrett, Klein’s close friend and business mentor.

Although the pair is extremely gifted and experienced in their musical prowess, they manage to maintain a certain relatable and digestible quality in their musical idiom. Divided into four short and punchy acts, the record is as cinematic as it is poignant, wrapping the listeners in pure, unfiltered emotional goo. At times anthemic, at times incredibly soothing, ‘Sailing Symphony’ is the perfect match for remembering Waddy Garrett, an Annapolis Naval Academy graduate.

As Jamison explains: “This is a symphony composed in memory of a friend who used to sail a lot.” Quite a touching story that supercharges the piece, making it quite cathartic and tears-inducing.
