Esther Durin Marks New Phase With Bouncy Gem ‘#Idwh’

An authentic artistic journey often takes time. Searching for one’s true self, vibe and direction is no small task. But it will be worth it in the end, when artistic expression reflects its author’s identity. In the case of Esther Durin, it took a few years and some prestigious experiences to then arrive to a strong point. Based in London, the talented singer and songwriter champions an eclectic R’n’B style, often with incursions in neighbouring genres.

Durin’s latest effort ‘#Idwh’ maintains her sultry vocals while incorporating contemporary afrobeat grooves, making the track an absolute banger, a tight and infectious gem bound to make the listener dance. Of course, we wouldn’t expect anything less from the English talent. Boasting an extensive experience in the industry, Esther debuted originally in 2017, building up a few records that landed her supporting spots for major artists and a bunch of TV experience (namely in ‘Little Mix, The Search’ hit show).

It’s on the back of this convoluted history that Durin paid a visit to Nigeria this year, exploring her roots and gaining a newly-found musical vibe. ‘#Idwh’ marks this new phase, a musical triumph that feels fresh and timeless at the same time. Over a bouncy yet polite instrumental, Durin’s vocal gently transports the listener to a world where fierceness is the keyword: being confident in yourself, and not having to rely on anyone’s approval.
