Rykarda Parasol Delivers Dark and Moody Wonder ‘A Gigolo’s Manifesto’

Rykarda Parasol is, perhaps, a name that needs no introduction. The San Francisco-based musician released her debut album ‘Our Hearts First Meet’ back in 2006 and has been steadily releasing music ever since. Today, however, I’d love to focus on a tune from her brand new album. ‘A Gigolo’s Manifesto’ features on Parasol’s latest record ‘Tuesday Morning’, and it’s a swimmy and rather eerie little track that I’ve fallen instantly in love with!

Described by the artist as “a heady mélange of dark lounge rock and 60’s elegance,” ‘A Gigolo’s Manifesto’ brings to mind the likes of Serge Gainsbourg, Jacques Dutronc, and The Velvet Underground. Avant-garde, experimental, psychedelic, superb! Add Rykarda’s intimate and moody vocals to the equation, and what you get is a song that captures the imagination and envelopes you in its haunting atmosphere.

I’ve had ‘Tuesday Morning’ playing most of the day if I’m being honest, and it’s been such a treat to discover such a gem of an album! Parasol is the very definition of an artist, and I can’t wait to dive into and explore more of her music! An alluring blend of vintage elegance with a contemporary edge, there’s just nothing to not love about her sound!
