Welcome one and all to the New Year! Not to toot my own horn, but I think I’ve found a pretty special tune to kick us off! Alex Hast is an up-and-coming music producer based in Kyiv who used to be the guitarist for metal acts Chasing Embers and Kthona. Having recently turned his attention to more of an experimental electronic sound, Hast delivers his fifth single in the form of ‘Quack!’
Ethereal and atmospheric yet intense and powerful all at the same time, ‘Quack!’ is a track that somewhat defies genres. Is it house music? Dance? Future bass? Trance? Whatever the answer may be, what isn’t in question is the song’s captivating energy and infectiousness. “‘Quack!’ emerged very spontaneously,” says Alex. “A friend of mine shot a video with a duck in a park in Germany, sent it to me, and I almost instantly started sampling this godlike “quack”.
A tribute to all the ducks in the world, Hast’s latest tune is an exceptionally upbeat addition to the producer’s discography. It’s a track to dance your troubles away to, and an invitation to savour the present moment. The perfect start to 2024, let’s just hope we hear from Alex again very soon!
