‘Vice & Virtue’ is a solid, tight EP. A record with no frills and bells attached, it delves into monumental fierce energy, channelling the past four decades of the best hard rock and punk tradition. It’s a triumph: in an industry where everything is polished to the extreme, Dirty Money defy that predicament and showcase a rougher, edgier sonic personality. Something that we are confident will attract a wide range of listeners to the project.
Built on four electrifying tunes, ‘Vice & Virtue’ welcomes the listeners to its powerful, distorted hellscape with ‘Play To Win’, a track that instantly dishes out hair-raising guitar riffs and punchy, groovy drums. ‘Running From The Night’ follows the same script, albeit at a much higher speed. The EP continues that way, with vocalist Spud Hudson’s engaging and gritty tone crowning it all.
Mark Walker, Ross Hutton and Luis Silver complete what’s a very effective line-up, allowing the band to cover all of their basis; charming solos, rhythmic glory and massive walls of sound. Speaking about the lyricism behind the record, they explain: “Each song is based on life observations and loosely follows the story of one man through his turbulent but often fun life”.
