It’s been a productive year for JesseMelancholy – we should know. We are now hooked on his wholesome and emotional rap-punk aesthetic, a major throwback that’s somehow incredibly modern. That’s his strength: the ability to build a contemporary sound from previous influences, picking the best qualities from each genre, and then building his own formula.
‘Poison’ is the latest effort by the Australian talent, a charming and evocative tune that’s expressive and evocative, yet energetic and fierce. Built on an eclectic fusion of electronic beats and fuzzy guitars, the record is the perfect setting for Jesse’s vocals; meaningful and fragile, they are always a treat to listen to. In fact, he’s been getting better and better release after release.
Certainly, a talent to look out for in 2024. For now, we’ll enjoy ‘Poison’, together with its punchy music video.
