Inkakai Returns with Double-Edged Record ‘Drown’

Wondering how to build a secret global superband? It might be helpful to have a chat with Inkakai, since they have… well, already done it! A mysterious collective of music professionals, they boast a staggering list of illustrious collaborations, a signal that we are dealing with highly acclaimed and talented peeps. On such a premise, it’s only natural for their music to sound astoundingly perfect, both on a sonic and songwriting level.

‘Drown’ is the perfect example of it. Inkakai’s latest effort, it’s a record divided into two versions; the first one being anthemic and emo-flavoured alt-rock, the second being a ballad-like, cinematic and soothing livery (called ‘shadow’), although still drenched in emotional and nostalgic energy. Let us tell you, this is not just a record; it’s a masterclass in music-making. Seen the level of the group, this is probably quite true!

It didn’t take us long to get used to ‘Drown’, in both versions. What’s surprising is the fact that the two feel like different songs, but thanks to Inkakai’s musical expertise, they all stem from the same core concept. We don’t even have a favourite, although the ‘shadow version’ does conquer our hearts. What about you?
