Some might define it as prog rock, others art rock: what’s certain, is that ‘Le Voyage – Acte I’ is as eclectic and charismatic as it could be. Introduced by ethereal and hypnotising vocal harmonies, the track embarks into its main theme, a majestic and intense whirlwind of piano arpeggio, vocal goodness and feathery drums. Such a theme gets repeated with religious rigour, fully mesmerising the listener with its anthemic and positively creepy undertones.
Over two minutes of artistic enlightening, French outfit IKTO manages to melt our collective brain, incapable of grasping such an iconic and memorable piece. Granted, it might not be for everyone: the right fit for such a record is bound to be the most cultured and open-minded listener, able to explore deeper than the usual commercial tropes.
