We were writing about h. eldritch not long ago, mesmerized by his “eclectic and steady-paced indie-folk banger, ‘Amateur Anthropology”, as we defined it. Now, the London-based troubadour returns with another valuable and expressive offering, ‘Innocent Sinner’. Compared to its predecessor, the track feels considerably moodier and darker, although eldtrich’s euphoric fingerstyle guitar performance transforms everything into a glorious slice of musical goodness.
Sonically, the record is fully built over folk-rock stylings, with the occasional anthemic pop melody popping up for good measure. In truth, the chorus in ‘Innocent Sinner’ is catchy and relatable, quite emotional really. It reminds us of the likes of John Mayer: the same moving lyricism that instantly evokes a reaction in the listener.
Championed by the likes of Wonderland Magazine and Glastonbury’s Festival, among others, it’s clear that the British creative is on to something real. We look forward to seeing the project bloom further.
