Tropic Celebrate Queer Love in ‘Star Crossed’

A familiar feature in our publication, Tropic have long championed a luscious and sensual brand of RnB and Soul energy, often drenched in modern electronic vibes and fashionable poignancy. Active for the past few years, the American duo uses their incredible musical qualities to display a fierce and euphoric message of young and queer love, capturing the same euphoric excitement that a lot of us experience out there.

That’s exactly what ‘Star Crossed’ stands for. Tropic’s latest single, the track is a blissful and passionate slice of wonky R&B, all flavoured with retro synthetisers and blissful vocal harmonies. As always, one of the project’s main strengths is the pair’s vocals, extremely malleable and evocative, able to charm the listeners from the first verse. Honestly, Tropic has been getting us used to stunning gems, and we can’t wait to see how they will evolve further.

Delving into the inspiration behind the single, lead singer Jo-B Sebastian explains: “Believing that I deserve romantic love is something that I, and so many other queer people, struggle to accept. I lived my life so deep in the closet that when I came out, I was desperate enough to overlook even the most glaring of red flags.”
