Initially, Jon Ann tricked us into thinking it was a solo outfit. We then quickly realised that such punch and fierce character could only be the result of a talented band. So it was: hailing from Adelaide, in Australia’s green pastures, Jon Ann showcase immense charisma and drive, penning rebellious nuggets of alt and punk energy. ‘F With Me’ is the group’s latest effort, a total triumph.
Hitting the listeners with sleazy, empowering guitar riffs and impetuous drum grooves, the track follows a simple yet very effective script. Riffs, powerful vocals and tons of distortion. It works, with Jon Ann putting their musicianship and instrumental talent on display. Christie’s lead vocals manage to keep the listeners on their toes, with a tone that’s evocative yet extremely spikey and fuzzy.
Described as a ‘crowd favourite’, it’s easy to see why: ‘F With Me’ shares a certain Nirvana-Esque flavour, offering punters an occasion for letting go of all angst and problems, even if just for a mere three minutes. Jon Ann have a ton of potential if they play their cards right. We’ll be here supporting them.
